Situated along the pristine coastline of the Atlantic Ocean, just outside Velddrif you will find Soverby Lapa. Driving from Laaiplek to Dwarskersbos, you will be greeted by this iconic building nestled between fynbos and framed in blue by the ocean. 

Soverby Lapa was built in 1994 as a temporary wooden structure offering an informal dining experience with sandy floors and fire pits to keep you warm after a swim and a day on the beach – attracting fishermen from all over Africa turning it into the popular Angling destination it is known today. 

Unfortunately the original Soverby Lapa was ruined by a fire in August 2012, destroying the structure to the ground, taking many memories with it. 

Soverby Lapa was rebuild as a permanent structure in 2015 as it is known today, rented out to a number of role-players as a restaurant and venue. In 2020 Charldo de Kock and Gina Smit joined forces and transformed Soverby Lapa into a well equipped, busy and successful restaurant.
